Chloe Foods Corporation Announces Voluntary Recall of Chloe Farms Brand Marinated Sun Dried Tomatoes

Chloe Foods Corporation of Brooklyn, NY is recalling its Chloe Farms brand Marinated Sun Dried Tomatoes because they contain undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious of life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The product is packaged in 8 oz plastic containers. All production lot codes are affected and the product has been distributed to Golub Corporation at 501 Duanesburg Road, Schenectady, NY, 12306. It is a product of USA.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in Chloe Farms brand Marinated Sun Dried Tomatoes which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

Urgent: Food Product Recall Re: Imitation Cream Cheese and Low Protein Peanot Butter™

Cambrooke Foods® is announcing a voluntary recall of all batches of the following products:

* Cheddar Wizard Low Protein Imitation Cream Cheese (SKU 10310; 8 oz. jar);
* Herb & Garlic Low Protein Imitation Cream Cheese (SKU 10308; 8 oz. jar); and
* Plain Low Protein Imitation Cream Cheese (SKU 10306; 8 oz. jar).

Cambrooke Foods® is undertaking this voluntary recall as a precaution because some of these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

For the above-listed Imitation Cream Cheese products, Listeria monocytogenes was detected through routine batch testing of product at a company facility before it was sent to customers. These batches of Imitation Cream Cheese products were destroyed. While no reports of adverse events have been reported with any product shipped to our customers, we are taking the precautionary step to recall all Imitation Cream Cheese products, regardless of batch number.

To be abundantly cautious and proactive, Cambrooke Foods® is also conducting a market withdrawal of all batches of:

* Low Protein Peanot Butter™ (SKU 10809; 16 oz. jar).

This product is being withdrawn because it is produced in the same facility and using the same machinery used to produce the Imitation Cream Cheese products. Testing has not confirmed Listeria contamination in any batch of Low Protein Peanot Butter™ nor have any adverse events been reported as a result of its consumption. No other Cambrooke Foods™ product is produced using this machinery.

Cambrooke Foods™ is working directly with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the cause of this contamination. Cambrooke Foods™ has voluntarily suspended manufacture and distribution of these products pending its investigation.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. Issues Voluntary Recall on Wegmans Italian Classics Seasoned Tomato Sauce

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of 24 oz. Wegmans Italian Classics Seasoned Tomato Sauce with a “use-by- date of 11/26/08”, UPC 77890 79010. The product is being recalled because the package may actually contain a milk ingredient which is not declared on the label. The recall of this product is of concern only to those individuals who have an allergy to milk. Consumption may cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction in persons with an allergy to milk. No other code dates are affected by this recall.

The 24 oz. Wegmans Italian Classics Seasoned Tomato Sauce is packaged in a clear flexible pouch, and was sold in the prepared foods department of Wegmans stores located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland.

The affected product would have been available in Wegmans stores between Saturday, November 15 and Thursday, November 20. Wegmans reports that this problem is limited to 108 cases of product, and that all product with the affected code date is no longer on store shelve.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The problem was discovered by a Wegmans store employee. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the affected code of Italian Classics Seasoned Tomato Sauce actually contained VODKA BLUSH SAUCE which contains milk.

Concerned customers should return the recalled product to Wegmans for a full refund. Customers who have consumed the product and feel they are experiencing symptoms should contact their physician. Nestlé Withdraws Nestlé Farinha Lactea Cereal in the United States

Nestlé is withdrawing Nestlé Farinha Lactea cereal in the United States. Nestlé is taking this action as we have learned that the product may contain residual traces of a pesticide not currently approved for use on wheat in the U.S. While the pesticide is approved for use in Brazil and the noted levels are well below Brazilian standards, it is not used on wheat products in the United States and therefore there is no set standard for its presence in cereal. The pesticide is permitted in the United States on grain crops other than wheat.

Nestlé Farinha Lactea cereal is manufactured in Brazil by Nestlé Brazil and sold primarily in Portuguese language communities in the United States. The withdrawal applies to all sizes, varieties and production codes of the product. No other Nestlé products are affected.

Nestlé USA is assisting with the withdrawal of this product from the U.S. market to ensure the continued quality and safety of Nestlé products. Nestlé has not received any illness reports or consumer complaints.

Consumers who have purchased Nestlé Farinha Lactea cereal should not consume the product, and should return it to the store where they purchased it for a full refund.

Nestlé USA is voluntarily recalling two (2) production codes of Nestlé Nesquik Strawberry Powder 21.8 ounce that may contain small fragments of aluminum.

The recall only includes two (2) production codes of 21.8-ounce containers of Nestlé Nesquik Strawberry Powder. Printed on the bottom of each plastic container is a production code of "82255880" or "82265880" with a best by date of "August 2010."

No other Nestlé Nesquik products or production codes of Nestlé Nesquik Strawberry Powder are affected by this recall.

The products were produced on August 12 and 13 and were distributed in the U.S. and in Puerto Rico.

General Mills Issues Voluntary Class One Recall Involving One Day’s Production of Progresso Hearty Tomato Soup

General Mills is voluntarily recalling a single day's production of Progresso Hearty Tomato soup because of a product labeling issue. Product produced on this date may have been mislabeled, and may contain allergens not listed on the ingredient label, specifically egg, milk, and soy.

There have been no reports of allergic reactions or illnesses associated with this product, however, the possibility of unlabeled allergens makes this a Class One recall.

This voluntary recall includes only 19-ounce Progresso Hearty Tomato soup with the following code date printed on the bottom of the can:

A production error resulted in a limited number of cases of Progresso Light Vegetable and Noodle soup being mislabeled as Progresso Hearty Tomato soup. Mislabeled cans have the code date 19May10 NV VN-3 on the bottom of the can, but are mislabeled as Progresso Hearty Tomato soup.

The mislabeled soups contain a product that is visibly different from the soup depicted on the label. Rather than containing Progresso Hearty Tomato soup, a mislabeled can would actually contain Progresso Light Vegetable and Noodle soup. Consumers allergic to egg, milk or soy products, or who are unsure of whether they are allergic to egg, milk or soy products, should not consume product with a Progresso Hearty Tomato label bearing the code date 19May10 NV VN-3 on the bottom of the can, and should contact General Mills for replacement or a full refund.

No other varieties or production dates of Progresso soup are affected by this recall.

Lucky Country Inc. of Lincolnton, NC is recalling all of its natural black licorice products from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington State due to elevated levels of lead.

Recent tests performed by the California Department of Public Health and the Food and Drug Administration showed that Lucky Country Aussie Style Soft Gourmet Licorice Black (All Natural) in 1.5 lb bags contained a lead level exceeding the level permitted in candy. Because of this finding, Lucky Country is voluntarily recalling all of its Lucky Country Aussie Style Soft Gourmet Licorice Black (All Natural) from the market. In addition to the 1.5 lb bags, Lucky Country also manufactures this natural black licorice product in 6 oz and 3 lb bags, and in a 1 lb tub. Consumers are advised to check to see if they have this product in their possession and should either dispose of it or return it to their retail outlet for a full refund.

Another Food Recall--Patak's Dopiaza Cooking Sauce

ACH Food Companies, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee is recalling its Patak's® Dopiaza Cooking Sauce sold in the United States because it may contain an undeclared milk allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The product is distributed nationally through retail stores. ACH Food Companies is notifying its distributors and stores that carry this product that it contains an undeclared milk allergen and to immediately remove it from distribution.

The product is sold under two different labels, "Patak's® Rich Tomato and Onion Cooking Sauce Dopiaza (Mild)" and "Patak's® Dopiaza Curry Cooking Sauce Mild." The recall only applies to products sold in the United States and no other Patak's® products other than these two labels are affected by this voluntary recall.

ACH Food Companies has notified the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) of the ingredient omission and is cooperating with federal authorities and its customers to recall this product. This allergen affects a very small number of people. To date, neither ACH Food Companies nor the FDA have received any reports of illness or complaints due to this error. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a health professional immediately. None of ACH Food Companies' other "Patak's®" family of products is affected by this recall.

The product, as formulated, did not include butter. Therefore, butter was not included on the ingredient statement or in the nutritional statement. An inadvertent error at the co-packer caused the wrong formula to be used in preparing the sauce and the wrong formula included butter as an ingredient.

Consumers who have purchased this product with either of these labels and with a "Best By Date" on or before February 2010 should return the unused portion of the product to the store from which they purchased the item for reimbursement or call ACH Food Company's Consumer Hotline at 800-726-3648 to receive a coupon for another Patak's® product. The Hershey Company Announces Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Hershey’s Chocolate Shell Topping Due to Undeclared Almonds

The Hershey Company today announced a voluntary recall of 7.25-ounce plastic bottles of Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping because they contain undeclared almonds. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The only 7.25-ounce bottles of Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping affected have the code 69N printed on the back of the bottle below the UPC symbol. The UPC/Bar Code is 346000. The item in question was available for purchase nationwide after July 8, 2008.

No Hershey confectionery items or other shell toppings are involved in this recall. No illnesses have been reported to date. The product is completely safe for consumers who do not have an allergy or sensitivity to almonds.

Hershey issued the voluntary recall after a consumer reported the issue. The company immediately investigated and found that a small portion of a Heath's Shell Topping production run used bottles labeled Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping.
